Power to the People! (Shabby Apple revisited)

REVOLUTION! Alright, not a revolution. But a small battle on the field of the little people has been won.

A few weeks ago I received a very polite and apologetic letter from Athelia Woolley, the owner of Shabby Apple regarding my poor experience with Shabby Apple. She wrote :

I came across your blog in the cyber-world and was horrified at the terrible experience you had.

1) It's always terribly disappointing to get something you don't like.

2) It IS indeed a pain to ship things back. (I hate doing it and rarely do.)

3) You absolutely should have been refunded your shipping cost.

4) You should have been treated MUCH, MUCH better!

I know that this apology does not make up for your bad experience but I DO want you to know that
you've made a difference in our company. (text enlargement by PfP)

1) We've changed our customer service representative.

2) We are in the process of changing our return policy.

A week later I received a free dress in the mail. And if you go to the website you can see that the shipping policy has indeed changed; if you are not pleased with the dress you can ship it back for free.

The dress that S.A. sent me fits much better than the one I had originally ordered. The knit material is a bit bulky for my borderline-bulky body, so standard dress shoes seem out of balance; the dress needs to be worn with tall leather boots. On the website the dress is shown as being worn with the collar up, however, I think it looks better folded down on me. I wanted to post a picture of me wearing the dress. Under the dress I had on slim boot cut jeans and 4 inch heel black boots, but spouse said he wouldn't take the picture.... he hates the jeans under dress trend. I thought it was a great combination.

Apparently right now, this dress (the polo) and a few others are on sale.

Whatever you conclude about the Shabby Apple dresses, at least now you can try them out practically risk free. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

That is AWESOME! I love that you made a difference. See, I guess it does pay to gripe once in a while! Tell spouse to just suck it up and take the picture - I want to see it!

I was wondering if I should send them a letter myself. The picture from my christmas card is a SA and I mailed it back to them once because the zipper was broke upon arrival they sent me a new one and with in 3 hours of wearing the dress the entire zipper started coming out, but I thought that I would just have to cut my losses.
That makes me really happy that they went to all that trouble to locate you.
P.S. I love the jeans under the dress look and I bet it looked hot on ya!

Okay girls let's get something straight. I never said I would not take a picture of my wife wearing the dress, although I will admit I thought my wife was joking when she walked out of our bedroom with jeans on under her dress.

I mean come on, that is just crazy. It's like wearing a cashmere sweater vest over a jean jacket. It's just totally not functional.

WaaaHOOOO! This is impressive. Who/what can I gripe about? I do love that your topics (Shabby Apple, Modbe..) hit the top of Google searches. YOU HAVE A VOICE WOMAN! THE WORLD IS LISTENING! And as for the husband - I am so disappointed. I will be sending him the latest issues of Cosmo so he can see just how hot and sexy the wife is. AND I am still waiting for the picture.

That is amazing... who would have thought she'd have to hear about it from your BLOG?! GO JL!!

JL's hub... you are HILARIOUS!!

I agree that's it's a fashion statement, but to the extent that I would NEVER be brave enough to try and pull the look off myself... go for it JL... so that the 'functional wimps' out there (i.e. myself) can have the audacity to leave the house looking a little more chic. :)

Come on we need a picture!!

That is hilarious and totally awesome. I am going to start blogging about all kinds of things and maybe I will get free stuff. I'll start with Ashley Furniture and tell the story about my table. Check out my sort of new blog. http://leafybugthoughts.blogspot.com/

Way to go--all my complaining just got me a pair of earrings so good job on getting a customer service rep FIRED and a free dress!
And as for spouse--the dress over jeans trend is super cute AND functional--tell him to try wandering around in 13 degree weather in a knee lengh dress.

Good for you for speaking up even if it was on your blog. I have gotten to the point where I refuse to accept poor customer service. Trust me, whoever runs that company--whatever company it is you're dealing with--wants to hear your complaints. Every industry has competition. I went to Banner Desert to have my baby and my delivery nurses rocked while I was completely ignored on the recovery floor. I wrote a four page letter outlining my experience (not whiny or aggressive--just a you should know what people are being treated like at your hospital letter) and the head nurse called and profusely apologized and went over everything in my letter with me and assured me that every nurse that cared for me would be spoken to. Ahhh yes. There is always someone listening.
